The February 2025 CSCS Shake-up: What’s New?

1. The 2-Year Initial Validity

Previously, all Green Cards were issued for 5 years. From 1 February 2025, all new Green Labourer cards are issued for 2 years only.

2. Mandatory Proof of Employment for Renewal

You can no longer just pass a test and pay a fee. You must prove you are actively working as a labourer. Acceptable proof includes:

• A signed letter from your employer on company-headed paper.
• Confirmation from a main contractor if you are self-employed or working through an agency.

3. The End of Grandfather Rights

For years, veteran workers could renew cards based on "industry accreditation" or their long history on site without formal new qualifications. Grandfather rights have been removed.
